Lynn Trapp Organ Recital


ORGAN RECITAL by Dr. Lynn Trapp on Friday, February 9 at 8:00 pm in the cathedral. The concert will feature works for organ by Dr. Trapp as well as works by Albert Alain and Stephen Paulus.

The event is sponsored by the Cincinnati Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) and the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO). Admission is free.  

Dr. Trapp will present a workshop for organists at 7:00pm. The public is also invited to attend.

Dr. Lynn Trapp holds a distinguished career as concert organist, choral conductor, liturgical pianist, author, composer and liturgist.  He serves as Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baltimore and is an organist at the Basilica of the Assumption of Mary, America’s first cathedral.  

As organist he performs extensively in churches, universities and concert halls in the U.S. and abroad. An active presenter and clinician, he serves conferences and conventions especially for the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and the American Guild of Organists.  He is co-chair of the 2018 national convention of NPM to be held in Baltimore.

He is the composer of more than 100 keyboard and choral compositions in publication with several major publishers. 

As director of pilgrimage choirs he has conducted choir performance tours to many European countries and the Holy Land.

Dr. Trapp is the recipient of prestigious awards including the National Presser Foundation Award and the International Spirit and Truth Award from the University of Notre Dame.   
In 2011, the University of Notre Dame invited him to establish his career archives in perpetuity at the Hesburgh Library. He holds degrees from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, University of Notre Dame, and after beginning doctoral work at the Eastman School of Music he completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Kansas.
